DRUG ADDICT DIES, GOES TO HELL, AND THEN COMES BACK AND TELLS HIS STORY.
– A true story of one of our clients, as he told it to Laurie Stasi January, 2013
“Mike” was one of the toughest men in prison, being a large, muscular guy, you wouldn’t want to mess with him. He was a major member of the Odinism religious group in prison. He said it’s really a front for gang activity. They meet under the guise of religion and conduct their gang business. He was also into the Arian Nation and was a skin head.
Mike was introduced to a Ouija board when he was little. Soon Mike and his friend were doing drugs on a drawing of a pentagram on his friend’s garage floor while listening to Black Sabbath. Mike got into the Church of Satan, and stole every book the founder, Anton LeVey ever wrote. He was fully into the drug world, dealing and cooking up crystal meth in his shed. He ended up doing hard time in prison for his activities.
When Mike was in The Salvation Army court-ordered drug program, he started volunteering and even went to a Bible Study. His heart was softening, and he started believing in Jesus. But he got restless and wanted to leave the building. This would break his probation. He left the doors of safety, and went back to the meth-lab home in a small Florida town. When he got there, he boarded his house thinking he had to go back to the program. Counselors and clients in the program tried to talk him into returning, and were praying for him. But evil was pulling him back to the world he was familiar with. He left the back door of the house open, went to the shed and started cooking come dope. He accidently knocked over a jar of a chemical that made him pass out. He would have died, but one of his drug-buddies came along and found him. This was his first rescue from death, but the next time was much more dramatic.
The people in the program kept praying for Mike. They could feel the Holy Spirit say it was an urgent situation and they needed to get Mike back. Several people made calls to him, begging him to come back. One of the clients called repeatedly. Mike was on the fence and was afraid they would put him in prison again for breaking his probation, so he resisted their pleas.
Mike rode in the backseat of a car with some friends and did “Ice.” He later said it was the purest form of crystal meth he had ever seen. He struggled to breathe, feeling his lungs close up on him and then he felt really cold. He looked at his friends in the car, and could see through them and there were demons in them. This was when Mike realized he was dead and he was terrified. The demons were driving him to hell. He looked at his side and his mother was holding his hand, crying. (She had killed herself several months earlier.) There were sounds of people in horrible agony all round him, and a smell that was overwhelming. It was the revolting smell of death.
The person in front of him said, “Do you know me?” He said no. Then Mike saw him as the boy from his childhood who died when he was young, while playing in the street. Soon, Mike was going through every sinful event in his life. He didn’t see it like a movie, he was in the actual place of every sin, every lie, every time he stole, every time he said, “G-D” and every time he hurt someone. It started when he was little. With every event of sin, he felt a demonic pull from his gut, an intense pain. He said this seemed to go on for 20 years as he re-lived every occurrence. Finally, he cried out, “GOD FORGIVE ME!”
The person in front of him turned and said, “Do you remember me?” The man reached out his hand and put it on Mike. There were scars on both of his hands. Mike knew immediately, it was Jesus. Mike’s reality shifted and he started feeling his natural body and was becoming alive again.
Earlier, his friend turned and glanced at him in the car and saw that he was dead. His face was grey and his open eyes were glazed over. They had pulled over and called emergency. Mike was only dead a short while, but to him it seemed like over 20 years. When he came to, he was so relieved, and very shaken. Jesus had saved him, and he knew it. Within a day, however, he was back to his old sins. One guy showed up at his place and they got into an argument. Mike drew a gun and was so angry, he wanted to kill the man. This demon of anger was rising, and Mike felt out of control. He also felt terrible guilt that Jesus had saved him, yet he was living in evil.
A friend came to the rural drug-house and wanted to sell Mike a 4-wheeler. Mike looked at it and went into the house to get some drugs to buy it. Two young people jumped on it and speedily took it for a ride. They ran into a wire fence and were both horribly injured, one broke her neck. Mike felt this was a wake-up call. He could have died again had he gone on it. He needed to get to the center. But soon, every demon in town seemed to be seeking him, his drug friends were giving him all kinds of drugs for free. Party girls showed up, offering free sex for drugs. Mike just wanted to get to the center. He asked them for a ride, and no one would take him there. They would give him a ride for drugs runs, but not to the center. At the same time people the treatment center continued praying for Mike’s return. He told us later, he could feel their prayers.
Mike went to a party, and froze on the edge of a couch. He didn’t understand, but couldn’t physically move. Maybe God had heard everyone’s prayers and Mike was put into an immobile state. Friends offered him everything, it was a feast of drugs, but he just wanted to get back to the center. On the wall in front of him was a picture of a satanic, skeleton Mother- Mary. It just demonstrated to him that he was in the house of death and he had to leave or he would die. The next day he put a gun in his mouth, ready to end it all and just then he received a phone call from one of the clients at the center. Mike said he knew God saved him with that call.
People at the center were intent on bringing him back. Even the maintenance guy felt the immediacy and finally sent a worker to go pick Mike up and he brought him back to the center. Mike was quite shaken as he told me of his encounter with hell. He was a man who normally brought fear into others, but tears came to his eyes and he was undone by this strange visit to hell. He was afraid to tell others, it just seemed too weird. I told him there are books and stories of others who have passed over into hell and back. He knew it was not the effects of drugs. He had been taken through events and sins that he had not even remembered for years. It was painfully real. He dedicated his life to Jesus and is struggling to recover from the demons that had authority in his life for so long. They are not giving up without a fight, but “Greater is HE (Jesus) who is in me than he who is in the world.”
“Mike” is currently in the program and his name and identity are private until he graduates.
BIBLE FACTS: What does the Bible tell us about Hell and demons?
Hell is a real place. It was made as a place of punishment for the fallen, rebellious angels. It is sometimes called Gehenna, Hades, or Sheol. The Bible says, “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” Matt. 25:41. It is eternal torment.
Demons are very real. When Jesus did ministry, he regularly cast out demons. This is also supposed to be part of normal Christian ministry of those who believe. Jesus tells us that “These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:17,18. It should be normal for Christians to understand the supernatural realm that consists of angels and demons. There is a lot that goes on in that realm. People into the New Age and witchcraft or church of satan realize the reality of the darkside. It is nothing to play games with. As Christians we need spiritual sight to overcome the darkness.
Christians should also realize the incredible authority we have as believers over the darkness. Jesus trained and sent out 70, unnamed followers who came back and reported: “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.” Luke 10:18-20.
In Mike’s story, he had to give an account of every deed, as the Bible says, “So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.” Rom 14:12. Jesus also said that we will “have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matt. 12:36-37. (also see Heb. 4:13, 1 Peter 4:5, 1 John 2:12.)
When “Mike” called out to God for forgiveness, it changed everything. We have forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus by calling on His name: “Dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.” 1 John 2:12.
Jesus was the one who brought Mike back from hell. The Bible says Jesus is the only way: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me,” John 14:6. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31.
Mike sees life differently now. This life is temporary and we must live with that in mind: “Since you call on a Father who judges each man’s work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
We can live with great assurance by believing and trusting Jesus. He has immeasurable love for us. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:9-15. Jesus loved us so much He laid down His life and died for us!
We live in a love relationship with Jesus, in total gratitude for His sacrifice. We live in a supernatural relationship with Him, because we are made up of body, soul and spirit. He communicates to us through the Bible, and through the Holy Spirit to our spirit. It is not a servant relationship based on bondage, it is a relationship conceived in love.
Don’t wait for the chance to repent until you are on that road to Hell. It is highly uncommon for someone to be resurrected from the dead and receive a second chance! Below is a parable Jesus told about hell. If you have not accepted Jesus, please talk to Him right now, and ask Jesus to forgive your sins, and be Lord of your life. Experience His incredible love today!
THE STORY JESUS TOLD ABOUT HELL
The Rich Man and Lazarus LUKE 16:24-31
“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
“The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side [a holding place for the righteous, before Jesus died for our sins and took people to heaven]. The rich man also died and was buried. In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’
“But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’
“He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’
“Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’
“‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
“He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”
