EMOTIONS SONNET – Passion Week, John 12:23-32

“My soul was troubled” (as a cloud)

The hour had come for glory; grain to earth

“As death brings life,” You told the growing crowd

The weight of this became as childbirth

You felt true pain; emotions that persist

While overwhelmed, the Father stood with you

He said, “I will be glorified in this.”

And glory breaks the yoke, long overdue

The scales in judgment balanced in that week

You knew the cost and bore what was to be

You did not run, but faced what look so bleak

The shadow growing near of that dark tree

All this for me, your burden, my delight

Your love so great, surrendered in foresight.
