A Locked Garden (Song of Songs 4:12)

by Laurie A. Stasi
by Laurie A. Stasi

A stately wall surrounding
And bound on every side
No roaming pests may come
And settle with their pride

The door is solid cedar
With hinges made of gold
A lock and key, were given me
My fortress to uphold

The treasure is the beauty
Delphinium and Foxglove
With Candytuft as carpet
To rendezvous with True Love

A well supplies the liquid feast
For every shrub and fruiting tree
Free from strife, the spring of life
To grow my colored potpourri

He comes to eat the tender fruit
And lie among the lilies white
To rest, or sing, my handsome King
He is my pure delight

The value of this secret place
Is far above the rest
I pour my all, and keep the wall
With love, at His request
