Has the sparrow made a nest

In the rafter, as a limb

Busy in the shade above her

Singing the most joyful hymn

Knitting branches, twigs and feathers

Like a skillful tapestry

Making life above Your altar

No place on earth so heavenly

Let me be this simple sparrow

Safely near your beating breast

I will sing your praise forever

Nesting in Your place of rest

Inspired by Psalm 84:3 “Even the sparrow has found a home, the swallow a nest for herself where she may have her home, a place near your altar. Lord Almighty, my King and my God.”
