FORGIVENESS
The weight of sin, an anchor
Pulling to the sea
Drowning all hope and promise
Killing eternally
I have heard confession
Of prostitutes on drugs
And even several murderers
And countless city thugs
The weight of sin so bleak
They felt God would not forgive
The freedom that they sought
Would help them truly live
They confessed deeds of darkness
And asked forgiveness in Jesus’ name
The cross bore all their punishment
And washed their filthy shame
Loved and free, a jubilee
Through Jesus they overcame
